It showcases the team’s commitment to empowering associates to live a healthy and fulfilling life through TakeCare.

Associate wellbeing is at the heart of every decision leaders make at the JW Marriott Lima Hotel. They understand that associates are their greatest asset and that they have a responsibility to create programs that empower and engage associates to live their best lives through TakeCare.

This year’s recipient of the Debbie Marriott Harrison TakeCare Award of Excellence demonstrates its commitment to Marriott’s “put people first” core value in the programs, resources and support they have developed for associates.

The hotel’s TakeCare team is led by three TakeCare Champions and consists of several other cross-functional partners from all departments at the property. The team has established practices to support today’s TakeCare focus areas: physical, mental and financial wellness.

  • Physical wellness. The team hosted a TakeCare Challenge in 2022 to inspire associates to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle through nature walks, group runs, and fitness sessions. Every month, the hotel also organizes a football tournament to involve leaders and associates.
  • Mental wellness. The property offers free psychological sessions for associates going through challenging situations and are active users of Marriott’s mental resilience tool “MeQuilibrium.” They also have instituted “Mindfulness Monday” for associates to relax and find balance in their busy workdays.
  • Financial wellness. Financial security is essential to associates’ overall wellbeing. The hotel provides access to financial advisors and educational opportunities to increase associates’ financial literacy. They also provide loans to help associates manage unexpected expenses and offer bonuses to associates in need of extra support to purchase back-to-school supplies for their children.

 

TakeCare efforts do not stop with associates, however. The JW Marriott Lima Team has expanded the program to also include associates’ families. According to Market Director of Human Resources Luisa Correal, “It was important for us to create programming with families in mind. We aim to empower associates and their families by providing them with skills and knowledge that can help them all succeed.”

One of the TakeCare empowerment programs includes “Let’s Talk, Let’s Walk,” a mentoring program created to help improve performance and offer professional development to red and blue-band level associates. Mentors and mentees go on a 30-minute walk together to facilitate active listening with a focus on personal and professional goals.
