Bremen is a historic city located in Northern Germany bordered on both sides by the Weser River. Bremen's attractions include plenty of green space as well as many heritage sites. Begin touring the city by visiting the historic old town. Here, visitors will find the Rathaus, or town hall, which is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, St. Peter's Cathedral dating back 1200 years, and the Marktplatz with its famous Knight Roland Statue. The iconic Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten sculpture is also nearby, depicting the town musicians of Bremen. From here, stroll along Böttcherstrasse and marvel at the many art nouveau facades along this avenue. The street will take you right to the river and the lovely Schlachte neighborhood. There are also many places to visit in Bremen if you want to learn about the arts and culture of the region. For example, tour Neues Museum Weserburg for modern art, Kunsthalle Bremen for classic art, and Universum Bremen, which is a hands-on science center.
