Implant Nature: Why it Matters

Soil Erosion in the Himalayas

Mussoorie is an environmental haven but globalization and a growing population have caused the topsoil to erode, threatening this beautiful yet vital ecosystem and local biodiversity.

Located at the foothills of the Himalayas, the resort aims to help conserve the topsoil of the now-eroding Garhwal Range which is essential to preserving the environment and wildlife. This measure focused on afforestation aims to educate the local community, guests, and our associates to give nature back its due. This activity aligns with the JW brand philosophy of family, instilling the virtue of sustainability while guests care for the local environment.

Implant Nature: The Experience

Plant a Sapling in the Garhwal Hills

Our eco-warriors, horticulturist and local community invite guests to conserve the environment and preserve the biodiversity of the Himalayas.

Guests can join the hotel’s in-house environmental horticulturist in a 3-hour interactive family activity to give back to the local Himalayan community by planting a sapling that aims at conserving the greenery of the Himalayan belt. helping preserve the soil and vegetation in the Garhwal range, and instill a sense of accountability by giving guests ownership of the sapling they plant and celebrating yearly anniversaries to remind them of their contribution.

  • Guided JW Garden Tour – Join the culinary and horticultural team on a private exploration tour of the hotel’s Secret Spot by JW Greenhouse featuring a    plethora of herbs, flora and spices grown locally and used to create a sustainable dining experience.
  • The Pahadi Life – The local communities are part of this initiative. In addition to planting a sapling, they also perform a local ritual after planting; organic turmeric is smeared on two stones at the site, depicting life and the  elements of earth.

Implant Nature: The Impact

Conserving the Himalayan Topsoil

The hotel aims to conserve and protect the greenery of the Himalayan belt so that the generations to come can continue to experience and enjoy it.

Guests will walk away with newfound knowledge and appreciation for environmental conservation, knowing they left the Himalayan ranges better than they found it by planting saplings that they will own for years to come.

Through protecting and conserving the Himalayan topsoil, this hands-on, multi-generational tree planting activity brings the family closer and make guests accountable as environmental stewards.
