Heating and Cooling

Building Temperature

The hotel is located above a running source of water. The latter is used to cool the building and is then returned back to the earth without being polluted. Additionally, a district heating system provides the hotel with hot water as well as heating by using household garbage combustion.

A Steadfast Focus on Responsibly Sourced Food

Tasty and healthy cuisine, using responsibly sourced products, 95% sustainable and local. Dishes are carefully crafted with seasonal variations, depending on the produce of the hour with the aim to work as much as possible to km 0. The restaurant Moments is aligning itself towards the Label Geneve Region Terre Avenir (GRTA), working with local small producers to also have a significant impact on the local economic environment.

Cocktails Infused With Home-Grown Ingredients

Ingredients grown in the hotel’s roof garden are used to concoct homemade syrups and fresh herb macerations, keeping indulgent choices wholly sustainable.

Wines Optimized with Long-Lasting Barrels

The bar team works with Bibarium. This Swiss company has developed a new type of barrel that allows wine to remain open for six months without changing its taste, structure or aromas. From the winemaker's vat to the glass, Bibarium preserves the quality of the product and significantly reduces its ecological impact.

Reusing Plastics for Sustainable Uniforms

The mixologists' uniforms consist of an eco-friendly vest made from marine polyester (plastics recovered from the oceans) and ecological fibers which equates to 9 plastic bottles per uniform.

Ventilated Facade

The building is ventilated thanks to the empty space between the perimeter wall and exterior cladding. Its primary purpose is to regulate the exchange of heat, air, and light with the outside. During the summer, the increase in temperature produces a “chimney effect”, pushing the air up and out. Therefore, the additional heat is evacuated, and the building’s overall temperature is reduced.

Water Bottle

To reduce plastic and glass consumption, guests are offered refillable water bottles upon arrival. Water fountains can be found on the hotel’s every second floor.

0km Preference for Partners

Suppliers (such as the laundry and dry cleaning companies) were chosen based on their proximity to the hotel to minimize unnecessary transportation and reduce the carbon footprint, as well as support the local economy.

Less Paper

To limit the printing of papers, the hotel information and the room service menu are accessible from the Smart TVs.

The hotel offers many electric charging stations, bicycle parking spaces, an electric shuttle and a complimentary public transport card to encourage greener travel tendencies. The city centre is easily accessible by tram in around 10 minutes.
