Head to Lake Michigan, Horlick Dam, Island Park, and Lincoln Park, where you can not only fish, but also go boating, canoeing, swimming, and more. You don’t have to be on the water to enjoy Racine, as there is plenty of hiking to be done at one of the nearby parks. Or simply enjoy a relaxing day on North Beach, home to 50 acres of lovely warm sand. There is also The Root, a green space that winds through Racine and includes hiking trails and the chance meet local animals at Racine Zoo.
For indoor attractions, one of the most popular places to visit in Racine is the SC Johnson Administration Building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and known as the largest commercial project he worked on. Other notable local buildings include the Golden Rondelle Theater, the Fortaleza Hall, and the Wingspread.
For a bit of culture, check out one of the local museums, such as the Racine Art Museum and the Racine Heritage Museum and the evening, find top dining and entertainment downtown. Don’t miss trying the famous oval-shaped Danish Kringle pastries.
