Solana Beach is a coastal weekend destination in California. True to its name, the city offers many opportunities for fun in the sun and a chance to get away by relaxing on one of its beaches. It is also within a short driving distance from San Diego. There are some great spots here to try surfing and stand up paddle boarding for the first time, such as Del Mar Shores, Fletcher Cove, and Tide Beach. You can also go kayaking, swimming, fishing, and do water sports at any of these locations. On the other hand, families will enjoy Tide Beach Park, thanks to its fun tide pools that appear on the north side during low tide. One of the top Solana Beach attractions besides the beach are the Del Mar horse races, a fun experience for young and old alike. Other fun activities in the area include the nearby San Diego Zoo, Legoland California, San Elijo Lagoon, and the State Marine Conservation Area. For shopping and dining, there are a couple of Solana Beach neighborhoods that visitors can explore. Head to the Cedros Design District for shops, antiques stores, and boutiques, or find many restaurants and cafes along the city’s waterfront.
