Arrival at The St. Regis Venice

Carlo Scarpa's Venice

Architecture in Venice is a breathtaking multiplicity of ornamental motifs, where a different decorative aesthetic seeps through every corner of every palazzo. This eclectic layering of styles dissipated in the city is what inspired the Venetian contemporary architect Carlo Scarpa, whose works were in turn a source of inspiration for The St. Regis Venice renovation.

Claude Monet's Venice

Fascinated by Venice’s passage of light, in 1908, the illustrious impressionist painter Claude Monet took residence at The St. Regis Venice, at the time Grand Hotel Britannia, challenging the eternal beauty of the city. Start your day in a botanical breakfast at Gio’s in our Italianate private garden from where you can admire the same perspectives that inspired Monet and his masterpieces.

History

La Biennale di Venezia

The Venice International Art, Architecture, Cinema, Dance, Theatre and Music Festivals play a prominent role in the city’s and the global cultural panoramas, bringing the best of international art trends and cultural events to Venice. The Venice Biennale has been for over 120 years one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world. The history dates back from 1895, when the first International Art Exhibition was organized. In the 1930s new festivals were born: Music, Cinema, and Theatre (the Venice Film Festival in 1932 was the first film festival in history). In 1980 the first International Architecture Exhibition took place, and in 1999 Dance made its debut at La Biennale.

Biennale Arte 2024
