Rising From the Ashes
Our address has been a cornerstone of hospitality, welcoming guests since before Arizona was a state. Originally the Adams Hotel and through various incarnations, this site has hosted dignitaries, business travelers, and an array of explorers. The cities “most spectacular fire” in 1910 and subsequent demolition by implosion in 1973 marked transformative moments in its history. Rising from these challenges, the current iconic building opened as the largest hotel in Arizona in 1975. Today, it continues to be the heart of Phoenix hospitality, inviting guests to toast its 125-year legacy.
Our sophisticated guest rooms offer polished design, eye-catching touches, and commanding views.
Learn MoreRelax in Style
Dare to be different in our rooms and suites, where head-turning design meets unexpected delights. Spacious quarters with eclectic decor and views that pop - from cityscapes to mountain views. We've traded predictable palettes for vibrant hues inspired by the Sonoran Desert, creating a visual feast that's anything but ordinary.
Infused With Art
Whether it's our iconic façade, our lively lobby, or our artful guest rooms, Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel is bursting with bold design and eclectic ambiance. Step into a world filled with intriguing murals, daring chandeliers, and one-of-a-kind sculpture. Inspired by the colors and forms of the Sonoran desert, our first floor boasts gallery-worthy artwork, organic textures, and even an open campfire to gather around. You'll be surrounded by inspiration at every moment.
Inspired by the majesty of the Grand Canyon, Growing Vases is the eye-catching centerpiece of our lobby. Combining sculpture and glasswork, it’s a marvel of glowing orbs and imposing, smooth wooden forms.
A framed Hermes scarf, sourced from the iconic Parisian fashion house, depicts a “Kachina,” a spirit-being important to the Native American tribes of the Southwest.
From the studio of Steve Hickok, a direct descendent of Wild West legend Wild Bill Hickok, The Relaxed Roadrunner depicts the iconic desert bird surrounded by green balloons and verdant cactus.
A painting of a giant, winking Horned Owl—a bird native to Arizona—reminds guests not to take things too seriously. The piece was created by Steve Hickok, relative to famed gunslinger and legendary cowboy, Wild Bill Hickok.
Inspired by the organic form of a mushroom growing on wood, this distinctive chandelier was designed by the Campana Brothers, master glassworkers hailing from Brazil.
One of our lobby's main focal points is this optimistic ode to Phoenix's radiant climate. Originally a vintage postcard, the epically sized print has become a favorite selfie-backdrop among guests.
Street Celebrations
Throughout the year, you’ll find us hosting tastings, seasonal celebrations, and pop-ups on adjacent Adams Street. A chance to connect with our local community, these events feel like a block party—and your group can be the center of attention.
Location
From the days of cowboy saloons to the era of craft cocktails, from stagecoaches to self-driving cars, our historic location has been at the heart of Phoenix hospitality for over a century. Through historic fires and complete reinventions, our downtown address has been inspiring guests and introducing visitors to the best Phoenix has to offer. Steps from the Phoenix Convention Center and surrounded by the city’s cultural institutions, cocktail bars, and live music venues, it remains the definitive place to discover a city that’s always reimagining itself.
Learn MoreSustainability
Sustainability and environmental design have part of our building’s DNA since its construction in the 1970’s. Its famous modernist windows boast concrete “eyelids” that block 70% of the desert sun’s heat. More recently, the addition of locally-sourced metal fins overhanging the sidewalk provide a shading element for pedestrians and hotel guests, and planters line the sidewalks and fill our common spaces to introduce greenery to our atmosphere.
Events
From intimate gatherings to grand celebrations, our hotel infuses character into every event. Whether you’re planning a board meeting, a convention, or a stylish soiree, our dedicated team of planning professionals will elevate your experience with creative catering and unforgettable spaces. Choose from 22 thoughtfully designed meeting rooms or host your event at our Skyline Terrace, where the vibrant spirit of the city sets the perfect backdrop.
Weddings
Our hotel provides a breathtaking setting for weddings, ranging from intimate ceremonies to extravagant celebrations. From our elegant Grand Ballroom to our inspiring Skyline Terrace rooftop, we have a perfect venue for every memorable moment.
Pet Friendly
We’re a proud dog-friendly haven. Enjoy a paw-some stay with access to a dog walking area at the hotel and in-room dog-friendly meals for the truly pampered pup.
